Grand Junction VA Medical Center is seeking a highly qualified candidate to assume the Chief of Surgery Service position. Grand Junction Veterans Administration Medical Center hosts 23 acute care beds and offers Medicine, Surgery, Mental Health, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Radiology as well as Dental Services. Outpatient primary care and surgery clinics and 24/7 inpatient care including an Emergency Department are available.
Grand Junction VAMC is a vibrant and forward moving facility serving the Grand Valley and Western Slope of Colorado as well as parts of Utah and Arizona. The vicinity offers remarkable natural resources as well as a small metropolitan environment. Attractions include the Colorado National Monument, Grand Mesa, Wineries and Powder horn Ski Resort. The Colorado River runs through town and provides a venue for water sports. The Rocky Mountains are immediately available. Arches National Park is also close by. The Chief of Surgery is a board certified physician in a specialty recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). The incumbent will be expected to practice within their specialty approximately half time (0.5 FTEE) and perform administrative duties approximately half time (0.5 FTEE). The incumbent will report to the Chief of Staff.
The Chief of Surgical Service is responsible for overall operation, oversight and performance measures of all Surgical Service operations at the VA Medical Center, Grand Junction, Colorado. This position provides administrative, clinical and programmatic leadership for the service to ensure achieved performance measures. Responsibilities include planning, developing and directing administrative and clinic functions of the Surgical Service. Also includes oversight of the inpatient acute care surgery ward which is a combined medical/surgical ward, medical surgical intensive care unit, outpatient subspecialty clinics. The position reports directly to the Chief of Staff and serves as a key clinical resource for the Director. Outstanding interpersonal skills are essential, as the successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary staff in the delivery of excellent health care to our nation's veterans. The Chief will be expected to practice within their specialty, in addition to fulfilling administrative responsibilities. Candidates must possess the skills to interact positively with the VA Health Care System's leadership team to lead, promote, and develop surgical staff excellence.

The Physician (Chief of Surgery) is responsible for supervising surgeons in the areas of general surgery, urology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, and podiatry, as well as, anesthesia staff and midlevel staff who support these specialties. The Grand Junction VA Medical Center is a level 2 facility and has a new surgery facility of 4 operating rooms and 2 procedure rooms. The Chief provides oversight to a department of 30 full time employees, including staff surgeons, physician assistants, anesthesia staff, and administrative support staff. Oversees all management aspects of the department, including credentialing and privileging, ongoing performance evaluation, resource utilization and quality improvement. In addition, it is preferred that the applicant remain active in clinical surgical practice and take a lead in the management of patient care by leading morning surgical rounds and taking surgical call for the service. Works closely with senior management on administration issues affecting the future of the facility. Access issues are a priority for the VAMC in ensuring that patients receive timely care.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
